Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
From the preliminary task to the end of the full task, I have learnt how to fully conduct the shooting of a production and all the work I need to do in preparation. I have learnt how to capture the footage needed and in the correct order, I have also learnt how to import the footage onto Adobe Premiere Pro.
I have furtherly learnt how to add a voice clip and additional sound over the top of the main footage. I have also learnt how to adjust the sound levels and add special effects onto the production.
I realised that the preparation made in order for the footage to be taken is vital and is needed to make sure every part is filmed and all key props etc are ready for use.

MAIN: Post 12.5: Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
We attracted our audience at the start of our opening sequence by saying what the production was called. This could draw in the attention of the audience by making them question who is kidnapped and why are they kidnapped, increasing the depth in the opening sequence.
The close up view of the girl getting kidnapped at the end of the production made the audience question again why is she kidnapped.
The view of the kidnapper from behind makes the viewer also ask themself Who is he? What does he look like? And Why is he doing this? this again attracts the audience as they want to find out all of the answers to these questions they ask themself.
We do not show where he takes her and what he does to her, this furtherly attracts the audience as they want to find out what happens to her and what happens around her.

MAIN: Post 12.4: Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for our production would be males more than females as according to the genre viewings by each gender, males watch more crime and mystery productions than females.
The age bracket we would be aiming to target our production at is 16+. This is as our production would be more popular and suited to an audience over the age of 16, this is due to the fact more people tend to understand films as they get older.
I would also aim our production at a target audience who are intested in crime, mystery and drama based films. this would attract a specific target audience and a certain group of people.

MAIN: Post 12.3: Question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our opening sequence will be made by the production company and edited by then as well. after making the production, they would then pass on the clip to the distribution company.
The distribution company is the conpany who will advertise and sell our production. The distribution company will do research into the best possible ways of selling the production and making it noticed to our target audiences.
I would chose Sony to distribute our production as they are a worldwide known conpany and deal with the distribution of millions of products and attract a large intrest. They also increase profits that are made because of the company name being on the product as well.

MAIN: Post 12.2: Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our production does not specifically focus on one main target group, we have tried to aim our production at a large age range to access most posible viewers. Our production is not for age below 16 but is aimed at all of the older age ranges.
The production is aimed mainly at the target group of males rather than females as the genre normally suits males more than females.
the social group it is aimed at would be males interested in mystery, drama, and crime. these means based on genre and gender we have a specific target audience but based on age we do not.

MAIN: Post 12a: Evaluation- Audience Feedback
After completing our production we screened it to a focus group which then gave feedback on what they saw, how we could do to improve it and how we have done sections well.
We captured the focus group on a digital camera and then took into account any criticism given. We then referred back to the clip to see if there were any sections that needed changing or editing and if so then completed them.

After capturing, we imported the footage onto the computer into a program called Adobe Premiere Pro. This program allowed us to edit our footage and piece together certain sections, making sure the continuity was not broken, to make our rough cut. We then adjusted the sound levels on our rough cut to make sure they were all the same volume and faded in and out to make the footage flow. We then added in any special effects such as cross dissolves to make the footage flow with the titles. We finalized our rough cut be double checking our production and finishing any changes that needed making.
MAIN: Post 9: Production
To record our production we used a portable digital camera and used a tripod to stand the camera on; we gathered our equipment at the time we had decided as a group was suitable for each individual based on when they were available.
The first time we decided to try and record our footage the weather was bad, this made us decide to change the time we captured the footage to another date when the weather was better.
On the second time of shooting the weather was perfect. We took out the script and storyboard to help our production run smoothly and to make sure we capture the footage needed, in order. Once in our location, I set up the equipment in the position we decided the footage would be shot from. We ran through the scenes of our production a couple of times before recording as we may have changed parts to suit the movement of the characters. If the footage had been taken each time we ran through drafting the production and was then used in our rough cut; the scenery or movement may have changed and there would be a break in continuity.
The position of the camera changed in most scenes so to make sure the characters movement was in the correct starting positions we referred back to our already taken footage to calculate the approxmate position they should start from in each scene.
We used the hadle on the tripod stand to hold onto during the fast pased walking scene. This made the camera more stable and helped keep the camera steady.
After looking through the footage taken, we realised we needed a few extra shots to make the final production look more professional. We captured these a couple of days later using the same technique.

MAIN: Post 8: Pre-Production Documentation
Synopsis of film
Our film is based around the concept of an investigation following a man who’s known to a series of kidnappings that have hit the news recently. The plot will cover a group of investigators trying to discover the criminal through numerous traces of evidence and forensics. With the film being introduced in the opening sequence with personal footage from the kidnapper, discovered by police, they are trying to track down the kidnapper- name known, through the use of numerous investigations and suspect interviews. Bodies of young girls and teenagers are found throughout the film; however the murder still remains unfound.
Synopsis of opening sequence
There is footage from a handheld camera that follows two school girls out of the school gates and follows them. It cuts from different footage of the girls. The girls say goodbye to each other just outside of the school and it carrys on to follow one of the girls down the road, it shows the girl walking down the road and the camera is behind bushes and while the footage is showing there is a news report voice over the top and informing what has happened saying that a school has been kidnapped.
The Script
Voice Over: On the 12th of October, two teenage school girls went missing. At approximately 3.30pm, the 16 year old girls, both of which dressed in black school skirts and maroon blazers, were last seen walking outside of Kings Langley School gates. With a strong lead from a local neighbour, we are under the impression that the suspect is a middle aged man of medium build and around 5 foot 11 in height. The man dressed in dark clothing was seen wondering around Love Lane- the road on which Kings Langley School is situated on, looking suspicious with a video camera in his hands. When confronted by the neighbour whose name we are guarding for security reasons, the white male with dark “scruffy” hair dismissed our witness, explaining he was a health and safety investigator who was observing the wellbeing of the school.
With a recent rise in the number of school girls going missing in the Hertfordshire area, the police are urging any witnesses to step forward and share any information you may have. The growing concern over the number of girls being abducted is something that the community needs to be aware of. Bodies are being discovered weekly, within local woods, canals and back streets. Evidence suggests the murderer may have a mental condition, and health records show a patient from the surrounding area, matching the suspect’s description. This mental patient also withholds previous convictions of which we cannot discuss for legal reasons, however, let it be known to all that if you are under any suspicion or feel under threat, call your local police station as soon as possible. This kidnapper is out there, and although the murders may not be linked, it is important for him to be found before further peoples’ lives are put to risk. This home footage was sent to the Hertfordshire police station, showing two girls matching the missing girls description.

Technical detail
· To start off the shooting we will have a long shot of both CHARLEY and LAUREN walking out of the school gates. The camera will be positioned on the opposite side of the road diagonally facing CHARLEY and LAUREN.
· The next shot will go back about 10yards and show CHARLEY and LAUREN furtherly walking towards the opposite side of the road. The camera will track their movement across the road and stop when they do.
· CHARLEY and LAUREN then split and go down different routes. The camera will follow LAUREN for a short amount of time establishing where she goes and then show CHARLEY heading off in another direction.
· The camera will then track CHARLEY from a distance following her movement. The camera will do this a couple of times getting closer with every shooting.
· As the camera reaches CHARLEY we will have a close up of her head turning round and screaming.
The location this will be shot in is outside the school gates we will take the footage when there are a decent amount of people walking out of the gates so it seems like it is the end of the school day. The lighting will all be natural due to the footage being taken outside. There will be no external lighting used. The camera movement will be handheld.
